Service Design Basics

nur für Incom-Mitglieder

The primary goal of the „Service Design Basics“ course is to equip participants with both a hands-on and theoretical understanding of the foundational elements of service design. This discipline is key in designing solutions to „wicked“ problems and plays a vital role in transforming teams and organizations towards customer-centricity, co-creation, and digital-first approaches.

This course is equally beneficial for students of interface design, communication design, and product design. It provides a diverse set of skills, including the ability to facilitate ideation sessions, and cultivates a mindset that is highly applicable across these disciplines, equipping students to design solutions that effectively meet user needs and create value.

The course encourages an empathetic and holistic approach to design, highlighting the importance of understanding the customer journey. It promotes the use of both qualitative and quantitative research methods and the application of iterative design and evaluation processes. Participants are urged to think creatively and collaboratively, viewing problems from a system-wide perspective.

This course extends beyond what is commonly referred to as 'design thinking' by providing a more comprehensive exploration of the tools and methods unique to service design.

By the end of the course, participants should be well-prepared to apply their understanding of service design principles in a variety of contexts. They will be ready to use this knowledge as an invaluable toolkit for driving innovation, digital transformation, and customer-centricity in any organization.
