Smart Home has become a very popular topic nowadays. It integrates of many new technologies through home networking for improving human’s quality of living, so there are many products apply to the smart home system. Accordingly, I choose one smart refrigerator (RB38K7998S4/EF) from Samsung as the subject of my project, and analyse the connection between the interface design and functionality.

1. Introduction

Generally, when we talking about smart home, there are some fancy words will come up, such as full-automatic, intelligentize, Health monitoring, personal trainer. However some critical opinions emerge too, for example, secuirty promles, difficult to learn for the novicedi, high cost of intelligence. In this project, I would like to visualize the basic interface design of one refrigerator, which Samsung has just released in CES 2016(Global Consumer Electronics And Consumer Technology Tradeshow), in order to analyse, how can interface design simplify the interaction? How can interface design contribute to the smart home network? How can interface design improve people's quality of living?

In the first part, I will show you my final information architecture. In the second part, I will show how my personal logic is, when I try to understand all the applications in the regrigerator, and how their relationsships are. At last, I would like to raise some discussion questions about smart home technology.

3. PROTOTYP

I decided to analyse the basic interface design from the seetings of the refrigerator. And I tried to all use icons to present to applications, and not just explain the application alone, but also present the network of them. This is to say, some applications work together as a group, their functions are complement to each other.

4. FAZIT

The smart refrigerator applies the technology of smart home to make many works much easier. This is Internet enabled and allows for users to communicate with it via the Internet and Bluetooth,so it applies multiple functions for the user. For example, you can download recipes and then display tem on its screen. Moreover, the refrigerator can even be controled while users are away from home. On the other side, the interface design of the refrigerator is not that much different from computer and smart phone, so users would be familiar with.

In my opinion, smart home will become more ubiquitous because I do see the value of the smart home network, and I believe in the future new technologies will be explored more and more.
