About Beauty / KITSCH

In this course, we ask ourselves fundamental questions about beauty: What is beauty? What is beautiful design? And to what extent are these views universal or subjective? Is beauty important?

In addition to group discussions on these topics, everyone had the opportunity to delve deeper into a self-chosen aspect of beauty.

Over the course of the semester, I designed a booklet that explores the concept of kitsch. Specifically, it examines its origins, definitions, counter-movements, and subgenres. Is kitsch the opposite of beauty, or can beauty be found in the kitschy?

The project uses the typefaces G2 Erika Mono by Gruppo Due and Bandit Super Condensed by AllCaps. It consists of 28 pages in a 14,5 x 21 cm format and was printed on 300g Metapaper.
