Finding the ideas (Baby Steps)

At the beginning of the course, it was said that we could work on what we wanted, but this freedom gave me some hard times, it felt like seeing an empty canvas.

To solve this problem, I wrote down every single thing that I do the most daily, and at the end of the list, I spent a lot of time cooking, so I decided to do some cooking videos.

Visual Inspiration

Everything that exists in this world doesn't come from nothing, every art and everything that humans do, already exist before, to make it short “Everything that needs to be said has already been said. But since no one was listening, everything must be said again.”

With this quote in my head, I decided on gathering mood boards, stealing some styles, and mixing them to make my visual look on the video. I was inspired by how Matty Matheson prepared dishes, and how Daniel Williams put the vibe on the video, and for visual and color grading, my inspiration was from one of the Tarantino movies, that's called Jackie Brown.

Logline and Expose

This idea of cooking video is a generic idea that could be interesting, so I decided to put a twist on it, it's not only about the way I prepare the dish, it's also about the fun in it, I normally do some cooking with music on, it helps me a lot finishing the dish in no time.

In this video, I want to see myself cooking, the way I cook, and the way I move, it gives me some perspective, cause you cannot see how you do things until you recorded it.

This video would also give the audience an insider, into how I do things that they can also do, it is a fun tutorial video on how to cook the dish, and how to prepare them the way I did.

Contents

This a short video on how to cook the dish the way I do normally, from the way I prepare everything for the dish to the atmosphere when I cook the dish.

it is a long process of cooking but it won't be a long video, I would like to make it easy to understand and as efficient as possible to watch and follow the steps for the audience

Implementation

I would like to do the shooting as efficiently as possible because the cooking process itself takes time, so I decided to shoot it with my iPhone 11, some lenses, some lighting, and a rode vlog rig that I have available.

It's not about how expensive the rig you have, it's about how you use it wisely, for the post-processing, I would like to change the LUT color, to make it similar to the Jackie Brown intro video.

The way I shoot the video and the movement, I would like to do it the way Matty Matheson and Daniel Williams did it in their contents, since they both have a big kitchen and I do not have it, I would like to use the fish eye lens to make the video look wider, so all the visual that needs to be shown, would be inside in one frame.

Goals

Since I don't have much experience with filming, I would like to test my ability to do it, it's also a good opportunity to show what I can do, it is a great portfolio also, and with this experience, I would like to do more for my Youtube channel in the future.

Moodboard

The mood board is important, it does the job when I do the shooting, and also it does the job well on post-processing, cause I can see how I want my video to look, mood boards don't work if you only keep it in your head.
