1. Berlin Hauptbahnhof - Retail Layers
The objective of this project is to map the spatial distribution of retail activities inside the station based on passenger flows. Data was gathered by cataloging all shops located across the three main levels: underground (-1), ground floor (0), and elevated (+1). The visual variables include the vertical breakdown of space into levels and four distinct colors used to identify the different retail categories (functional, travel, food, flagship).
2. Potsdam Hauptbahnhof - Time & Flows
This work explores the rhythm of time and the intensity of passenger flows within a transit hub. The data stems from direct observation of people's movements and behaviors during a specific time window, from 10:00 to 12:00. The visual variables used are line orientation, mark density, and stroke thickness to visually convey movement speed (standing still, walking, or running).
3. All the people - Shadow Shifts
This exercise analyzes urban thermal comfort and how the search for shade influences pedestrians' movements within the square. The research addresses two main questions: whether the heat alters the trajectory of a step and whether shade encourages people to stop. The data was collected on-site by tracking the real paths of three people across three different times of day. The visual variables used include line direction, deviation vectors to indicate changes in route, and three contrasting colors to represent the rhythm of movement.
4. Bahnhof Rehbrücke - Scenarios of Absence
This project investigates the atmosphere of neglect and suspension in a suburban station through the conceptual lens of „absence.“ Data was collected through field research and visual documentation using photographic fragments of the space. The main visual variables consist of a collage layout and a gradual gradient blur used to represent three forms of lack: of function, of care, and of human interaction.
